In reply to nvskibumretired's post on May 4, Rob, I tried the recommended 3rd party app, and finally found one server that worked some others did not, and I got error messages. How satisfied are you with this reply?

Step 1 : Type timedate. Step 2 : Switch to Internet Time and click Change settings. Step 3 : Check Synchronise with an Internet time server. Choose a different time server from the drop-down menu, and click Update and OK button.

Now, you can check if error synchronizing is resolved. If it still exists, try using switching to other usable servers. You can also move to the next fix directly. Another potential reason for this issue is that W32Time is not registered. You can re-register it in Command Prompt. Step 2 : Type the following command one by one and press Enter after each:. We have to admit that Firewall is a useful tool to prevent potentially dangerous applications from access your Internet. Thus, you need to disable your third-party firewall to avoid that it interrupts the connection between the time server and your computer.

Or, you can uninstall the program directly. If you are using the built-in Firewall tool, you should bring it back to the default settings. Adjusting the default update interval is also a proven solution to error synchronizing. You can make by editing your registry. I tried completely disabling the firewall only router , no luck. Same for restarting router. Other server: no luck. Usually when this fails me it fixes it to change your NTP server. I did try running cmd as adminstrator, unregistering and reregistering the time service w32tm , stopping and restarting the time service, no clue.

It seems there is an issue between w32time and the net time command. Not my cup of tea. Fly In past when I got message "An error occurred while windows was synchronizing with windows.

I got problem resolved by enabling all traffic in FW or by changing a server and try to update from nist server. If non of those steps help, then I don't know what could cause a problem. I do find that time. It obviously can be a firewall issue but as far as I know every Windows PC made comes with that server as the default.

It is likely getting hammered with traffic on a regular basis. I have better results personally with time-b. And after my latest attempt I don't have permission to change the internet time Restoring an image I'm no techie. For what it's worth, on my two Windows 7 x64 systems, I see the same "An error occurred while Windows was synchronizing with [name of time server]" issue.

I cannot tell if this is a relative recent issue, since earlier this year, or if the issue is there for years.
